Black Hills String Retreat

Since 1990, the Black Hills String Retreat has offered young string players, entering grades 5 -12, an intensive and varied program under the direction of an outstanding guest faculty in a relaxed and fun environment. The camp is located at the Cedar Canyon Wesleyan Camp in Rapid City. Originally started in the fall of 1990, the camp has grown from a weekend workshop for 80 students to a five day camp for over 200 campers. Campers entering 5th through 12th grade will be housed in camp cabins and will be chaperoned by our volunteer parent chaperone staff.
The camp offers a wide variety of musical activities including master classes, orchestra, ensemble coaching, and technique classes, as well as a number of performing opportunities; electives include fiddle instruction, handbells, group singing and penny whistle. There's also plenty of time for planned recreational activities.
Black Hills String Retreat offers a Day Camp for Suzuki students who are entering third grade and younger. Please email charlieviola@rushmore.com to receive a day camp brochure and registration form or follow the link above.
Camp begins on Monday, July 28. The final concerts will be on Friday, August 1.

Give your full name, address and phone number and an application will be mailed to you or download from this link. You must return the scholarship application along with your completed 2008 camp registration form. Please include the application fee, unless you have stated extenuating circumstances.
